Client had a well-designed eCommerce site running on Shopify and an established social media presence.

Sales were relying exclusively on social media ads and no content marketing activities had been done previously. The objective was to build an organic footprint and attract organic traffic.

Content Strategy from Scratch

 

The project involved creating an SEO-based content strategy to promote the business’s products.

Accompanied by a backlink-building campaign using guest posts. And social media content delivery on selected channels.

The length of the project was 8 months. During this period I created and published on average 3 long-form blogs a month (2000 words +). And about 4 guest posts for the outreach campaign.

Since the project was stopped no further content marketing operations were developed and it’s correct to  assume that the results obtained are in great part a direct consequence of my strategy.

DA evolution

 

 

Domain Authority increased from 3 to 30+

 

When the content strategy project started the e-commerce site had a domain authority insignificant DA 3 according to Ahrefs.

Taking into consideration that no actions were taken previously related to content creation, that’s not surprising. The site had back than just a dozen pages with products and policies.

Publishing high-quality content regularly with unique visuals (visuals have a high impact on the buying decision for these products) for 6 months and a backlink campaign helped increase the DA by 10X.

 

 

 

The Number of Referring Domains Multiplied Several Times

 

As a direct consequence of creating and publishing SEO-optimized content regularly, corroborated with a simultaneous backlink campaign, the number of referring domains multiplied from 20-30 to 400+.

The backlink campaign relied on publishing guest posts on sites and blogs related to the client’s niche. I outreached websites having a DA of 20+. And published on average 5 guest posts a month.

Organic Traffic Doubled for High Season and Multiplied by 10X During Low Season

This is a seasonal business, with the majority of sales being made during the winter season.

As the content marketing project started from scratch, it took about one year to see the results of the content creation and backlink campaign.

The following results were generated:

  • organic traffic during the high season increased from 24k in November 2020 to 56k in December 2021.
  • low-season organic traffic increased from approximately 3k to 30k.
  • the number of organic pages increased from 14 to over 60.
